SUZY-JANE TANNER

Author & Illustrator

Suzy-Jane Tanner has written and/or illustrated around 100 books for young children which have been translated into 13 languages. Titles include the Bunnies and Bears series for Davis Bennett Books, The Fred and Ursulina books for Hutchinson and her most recent book, Socrates, is about a very odd sock and was published this year in Italy by Filippoeditore.

Suzy likes drawing animals and is particularly fond of bears. However, many of the animal characters in her stories are actually based on human friends (and foes) along with memories from her own childhood.

In 2001, she was invited to exhibit by Global Arts Link in Australia who put on her one woman show, Beary Tales, which featured original artwork for illustrations and interactive games for children based on her books including an underfloor teddy bears picnic. She is a member of South West Illustrators and participated in the SWILL & Friends exhibition as part of the Bath Festival of Children's Literature 2007.

She will be attending the SCBWI conference and Bologna Book Fair in March/April 2008

Suzy lives in Bath with a fine artist and two very fine tabby cats. When she is not working she likes gardening, designing beaded jewellery and to travel.
